Top 5 beaches to Visit in Mexico

Mexico is full of amazing beaches. Any state you visit that has a coast will most likely have a beautiful beach. And if it's not the most beautiful, they will have a great attitude and receive you with open arms. Our list is not in any order, and is crafted based on our experiences. It is for those who are looking to go somewhere different and not as expensive as beaches have become for tourists.

Here are our top 5:

1. Puerto Escondido

If you like to surf, this is the place to go. Puerto Escondido is known for having one of the 10 best waves in the world! Every summer it holds a worldwide competition where the best surfers in the world compete.

You might think - surfing is not for me. There are also other things to do! Puerto has a Bohemian vibe, for the laid back, and for those who enjoy really nice weather year round. I'm serious- the water is never cold and neither is the city, even in the winter!

There are fun places to go out and eat and at a really good price! So if you're looking to relax, get some sun, and not spend much, this is the place to be!

2. Balandra

Sit back and take in the huge pool of clear, light blue water. Look around and you are surrounded by deserted mountains. "Where am I?" You ask yourself

Balandra is a small beach off the coast of Baja California, a 1-2 hour drive from Los Cabos. Take in the low and clear water and enjoy paddle boarding and/or kayaking. There is very good scuba diving off this area if that is something you enjoy.

Don't miss the good seafood that is offered here as well! This is definitely a beach you will never forget!

3. Holbox

Another giant pool of heaven and eternal bliss. This little island, just a 15 minute ferry ride off the coast of Quintana Roo, will mesmerize you.

Starting with the fact that there are no cars, just golf carts or bicycles to move around. Take in the nature and the endless light blue water.

If you are lucky, you might get a chance to swim with the whale shark! This is definitely an experience worth doing, not many days do you get to say you swam with a huge friendly underwater animal!

Don't miss trying out the lobster pizza, excellent taste and not as expensive as it sounds!

4. Bacalar

A giant light turquoise lagoon. Oh yes, this exists in Mexico. Right on the border with Belize, discover the paradise that is Bacalar.

Whether you're staying in a house by the lagoon, a boutique hotel, or camping, this place is for all. Just get on your dock and go for a swim.

Don't miss the chance to sail- both day and night. Try to sail under the full moon, this is an experience you won't forget.

5. Mazunte/Zipolite

These are two beaches but are pretty close to each other.

Mazunte, famous for turtles to come and release their eggs, has become a hub for those who love the organic, yoga, and nature. Try to get a chance to release the baby turtles to sea- you are not only experiencing something magical but are also helping the world.

Right next to Mazunte is Punta Cometa, a natural cliff where you can see the coast from above. This is a great place to come watch the sunset after a nice little hike. If you are feeling adventurous, you can go to the beach below and explore some more.

Zipolite, go nude! This is a nudist beach after all! But if you are not ready to take your clothes off, you can still enjoy the beach and its vibe. It is also host to very nice and affordable hotels, with good eats and a nice swim.

Stay tuned for our next list of recommendations, and of course never forget to take a brand new swimsuit for the occasion ;)
